Women in Boat Building

Annie, Sal and Belinda chat about their shared passion for sailing - WATCH BELOW.

5am and as dawn breaks in Costa Rica, before she begins another day in the boat yard, making films about the build of a vessel for SAIL CARGO, filmmaker ANNIE MEANS is about to settle into a bowl of rice and beans. Meanwhile it’s noon in the UK and boatbuilder & founder of WOMEN IN BOAT BUILDING, BELINDA JOSLIN wonders where she’ll find another female boatbuilder to meet demand from young female apprentices wanting to have a career in the boating industry shaped and set up for success.

Last week you read about the films these two women have made to lead a conversation about what it will take to simply encourage more women to work viably, sustainably and successfully in the BLUE ECONOMY. This week we chat about the making of these films and what both women hope the future holds for all boatbuilders.

I look forward to continued conversations and the potential of expanding Belinda’s initiative to Australia and to also following up with Annie as she embarks on projects in the Pacific. But for now, over to these incredible women! I hope you enjoy meeting them as much as I!
