By Gale to Paradise

SWS is hoping to ride the wave of enthusiasm for our two recent Wally Ward stories, by reproducing this account of the Carmen Class Yacht CARRONADE on the first leg of her epic journey in which the 30 footer eventually rounded Cape Horn. We will publish that more famous part of the tale at a later date, but this week we have Ken Mills recounting the trip from Pittwater to Papeete. It comes from an out of print book called “Force Nine and More” cataloguing eighteen heavy weather Australian sailing stories. It was published in 1969. (Click on the pages to enlarge.)
