Genuine Racing Regattas exclusively for wooden and classic boats are rare things here in Australia.
As I write British Classic Week is half way through its program (report to come), and the Aucklanders run a good Racing Weekend, but apart from the Sydney Hobart Veterans Regatta on the Harbour (with its exclusive entry criteria) there is a dearth of genuinely competitive sailing events exclusively for heritage boats in Australia.
This is where the Classic Yacht Association’s Cup Regatta takes up the slack!

1st November 2024. Tumlaren Interstate and Trans-Tasman One Design Challenge.
1st November 2024. Regatta Welcome Party at Ferdi Darley’s Boat Shed.
2nd November 2024. Day One of Fleet Racing.
3rd November 2024. Day Two of Fleet Racing
Now entering its 18th consecutive year, the event is building on the revitalised format of 2023 with a few minor tweaks. 2023 saw 35 boats competing on the northern waters of Port Phillip over two days. This year with an enhanced social and racing program thanks to support from the Joe White Bequest, Vicsail Geelong, FJ Darley Tradition Shipwrights and Wilderness Wear, we are aiming for 50 entrants.
