Turning The Tide-ABC Compass

Last week’s episode of Compass on the ABC, covered issues close to the heart of the team at SWS. Yes there was a wooden boat involved. And a special one at that, the WINDWARD BOUND, but there was also the stories from Tasmania’s young migrant and refugee community.

The intersection between the worlds of Tall Ship sail training and our young new Australians, is where the real change seems to happen. Under the calm, thoughtful and yet quietly authoritative guidance of Captain Sarah Parry, the crew from countries as far afield as Syria and Cambodia learn to work together to run the ship, and perhaps enrichen their lives.
